Builds/Troubadour and Trouvere
Troubadour and Trouvere are the 4th jobs of the Minstrel and the Wanderer (Bard → Minstrel → Troubadour, Dancer → Wanderer → Trouvere). They share the same skill tree, so everything on this page applies to both. They can deal physical damage with arrows, magic damage with their instrument or whip, or support a party with songs.
At a glance
| Role | Ranged physical or magic area damage, party songs |
|---|---|
| Weapons | Instrument (Troubadour) or Whip (Trouvere), plus arrows. Rose Blossom, Rhythm Shooting and Mystic Symphony also work with a Bow. |
| Main stats (3rd job) | Physical: DEX, AGI, VIT. Magic: INT, DEX, VIT. |
| Main traits (4th job) | Physical: POW, CON. Magic: SPL, CON. |
| Difficulty | Medium |
Key 4th-job skills
| Skill | Type | What it's for | Scales with |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rose Blossom | Ranged, arrow element | Hits one target, then a flower bursts 0.5 seconds later for 19,800% (level 5) on everything up to 7×7 around it. Gives 3 AP. | base level; CON (+3% per CON, once Stage Manner is learned) |
| Rhythm Shooting | Ranged, arrow element | Single target, 3 hits | CON (+5% per CON with Stage Manner), base level |
| Rhythmical Wave | Magic, arrow element | Main magic area attack (up to 9×9) | SPL (+5% per SPL), Stage Manner, base level |
| Metallic Fury | Magic, arrow element | Magic area attack (up to 9×9), big bonus on a Sound Blend target | base level; SPL (+2% × Stage Manner level per SPL, only on Sound Blend targets) |
| Sound Blend | Magic, arrow element | Small hit that marks the target for 10–20 s. Marked targets take more from Rose Blossom, Rhythm Shooting and Metallic Fury, and the mark hits again when it runs out. | SPL (+5% per SPL), base level |
| Mystic Symphony | Self buff, 125 AP | For 150 s: Rose Blossom, Rhythm Shooting and Sound Blend do double damage (and +50% more to Demihuman and Fish); Rhythmical Wave gets +5,200% at level 5 | – |
| Stage Manner | Passive | +3 P.ATK and +3 S.MATK per level with a bow, instrument or whip; turns on the CON/SPL bonuses above; more AP from your attacks | – |
Arrows decide your element for every attack above, even the magic ones, so carry elemental arrows. Sound Blend needs the 3rd-job skill Metallic Sound at level 5. Mystic Symphony needs Rose Blossom 5 and Metallic Fury 1, so both builds pass through both damage lines.
Songs
Songs use 1 Protect Neck Candy each (sold by Harive in Comodo, 196, 162) and give 10–20 AP. Their effect is doubled if a Troubadour/Trouvere of the opposite sex is in your party and nearby.
- Pron March: party +3 P.ATK per level. Jawaii Serenade: party +3 S.MATK per level and faster movement. Musical Interlude: party +5 RES per level (+5 base).
- Ain Rhapsody / Geffenia Nocturn: enemies around you lose 10 RES / 10 MRES per level. The server code marks these numbers as unconfirmed, so they may change.
- Roki Capriccio and Nipelheim Requiem: chance to confuse or curse enemies (plus 4th-job debuffs).
- Retrospection recasts your last song with +50% AP. Kvasir Sonata lets you use the 3rd-job chorus and ensemble skills without a partner for 60 s.
Build: Rose Blossom (physical leveling)
Strong area damage with arrows; you can even use a bow.
- Stats
- DEX 130, AGI 110, VIT 100, INT 70, rest LUK or STR.
- Traits
- First ~40 points: POW 30, CON 10. Up to ~80: POW 60, CON 20. Later: POW towards 110, then CON and STA.
- Rose Blossom's base is huge (10,200% + 19,800%), so CON's +3% per point is small. POW gives +1% damage per 3 points and +5 ATK per point, which is worth more. Your job levels add +11 CON and +7 POW anyway.
- Skills to max first
- Rhythm Shooting 3 → Rose Blossom 5, Stage Manner 5, Sound Blend 1 → Metallic Fury 1 → Mystic Symphony 1. Then Rhythm Shooting 5 and party songs.
- Playing it
- Shoot Rose Blossom into the middle of a group. Keep Mystic Symphony up whenever you have 125 AP; it doubles your damage. Use Rhythm Shooting on single targets.
Build: Rhythmical Wave (magic leveling)
For players who like casting. Needs an instrument or whip.
- Stats
- INT 130, DEX 130, VIT 100, rest AGI (about 95).
- Traits
- First ~40 points: SPL 40. Up to ~80: SPL 70, CON 10. Later: SPL 110, then CON and WIS.
- SPL adds +5% to Rhythmical Wave and Sound Blend per point, +1 S.MATK per 3 points and +5 MATK per point. With Stage Manner 5, each SPL also adds 10% to Metallic Fury on Sound Blend targets.
- Skills to max first
- Sound Blend 1 → Metallic Fury 5 → Rhythmical Wave 5, Stage Manner 5, then Rhythm Shooting 3 → Rose Blossom 5 → Mystic Symphony 1. Then Sound Blend 5 and songs.
- Playing it
- Gather monsters and cast Rhythmical Wave; with Mystic Symphony on it gains +5,200%. On tough groups, Sound Blend the biggest monster first, then Metallic Fury. Rhythmical Wave's SPL and Stage Manner ratios are marked "to be checked" in the server code and may change.
Before 4th job (base 99–200)
As a Minstrel or Wanderer, Severe Rainstorm (bow, instrument or whip, 10 arrows) is the easiest leveling skill: it rains arrows on an area for 3.4 seconds, 100% per level per hit (+20% per level with an instrument or whip), multiplied by base level / 100. Reverberation (magic, arrow element, 700% + 300% per level, up to 2,200%) is the magic option, and Metallic Sound (magic) is a strong single-target spell that you need at level 5 anyway. Raise DEX first.
Tips
- Mystic Symphony's +50% works on Demihuman monsters: Tartaros Storage (Heart Hunter Skirmisher, Broken Warehouse Manager), Rudus Dungeon 3 and the Power Plants are full of them. See the Leveling Guide.
- The Arrow Merchant sells Fire, Crystal, Wind, Stone, Silver, Shadow, Rusty and Immaterial Arrows. Pick the one the map's monsters are weak to.
- In a party with another Troubadour/Trouvere of the opposite sex, split the songs: one plays Pron March and Jawaii Serenade, the other Musical Interlude and the enemy debuffs.
- Experimenting is cheap: the Reset Girl resets stats or skills for 5,000z each.
